"The judiciary is capable of closing the courts"

"As the law stands today, the judiciary is capable of closing the courts." In 2019 and 2022 he had sworn the opposite was true of his organization's reach.

On camera

"As the law stands today, the judiciary is capable of closing the courts and denying camera access."

"The judge specifically ordered that my cameras were the only ones allowed in the courtroom and that everyone else was prohibited from recording. The judge also closed the court for the portions of the testimony that she deemed appropriate."

Same testimony, at 17:47

"I urge the Assembly to follow the Supreme Court's example, honor its oath to the Constitution, and reject this as it is currently written."

"If these were divorce proceedings, the statute would control and Our Nevada Judges concedes the proceedings would not be 'open to the public'; it would follow that the presumption of electronic coverage would not apply."

"Petitioner concedes it has not been precluded from attending a family law proceeding under EDCR 5.207 or EDCR 5.212."

Order Denying Petition, NSC No. 84947, February 21, 2024, p. 2
Note. In 2019 he conceded in writing that divorce proceedings were not open to the public; in 2022 he swore his organization stayed out of divorce cases because of the rules; in 2025 he told two legislative committees that a bill restoring judicial discretion to close family hearings was unconstitutional and that judges already had the discretion to close them. The law changed between those dates because of his own 2024 writ (NSC No. 85195, 140 Nev. 79); the concessions were his.
Standard. The excerpt is cut from the video Our Nevada Judges published, with its picture, sound and on-screen labels unaltered, and the full video is linked at the time mark. The on-camera quotation was transcribed from the video and checked a second time by machine; the time mark opens the video where the words begin so the reader can hear them. Each answer from the record is a quotation from a filed document, cited to the page. Nothing is characterized; where the two are set side by side, the reader draws the conclusion.
